Your Appointment
How to prepare for your appointment:
EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE! The key to extending the life of your tan is to remove as many layers of outer skin cells as possible. However, you want to make sure this is done 24-48 hours prior to your visit.
pH Matters! Avoid soaps, oils, perfumes, and lotions for 24 hours beforehand, as this can change your body's natural pH, affecting the effectiveness of the spray tan.
However, you should be clean! If you sweat or get dirty in the 24 hours prior to your appointment, you'll want to shower with warm water only.
Do not shave or wax in the 24 hours prior to your appointment. This will leave pores enlarged, which could allow the tanning solution to pool in your pores, creating dark spots.
Remember, your skin (body and face) should be as free and clear as possible. This includes hydroxy acids and retinols, which increase cell-turnover that can decrese the life of your tan.
Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment. This will prevent rubbing that can remove the solution from your skin. Depending on the shade you choose, your tan solution can transfer to your clothing (washable, of course!), but if you aren't going straight home to wash them, this will prevent temporary staining.
Primer- the pH of your skin is important regarding the quality and length of your tan. A typical person's skin is a pH of 4.7 and increases with the use of most topical beauty products. The ideal pH of skin for a sunless tan is 4.5 to achieve the fastest, and longest-lasting results. This pH can be achieved with a pH-balancing spray that can be applied before your tan for an extra charge*.
Following your appointment:
Do not shower, swim, sweat, or get wet for the first 24 hours after your spray tan. If you must shower within 24 hours, use warm water only to rinse.
Finish your look with a shimmer dust that will make you feel just as radiant as you look**.
24 hours after your appointment, you should lock in moisture and stop skin cell renewal by applying a fortifying body butter.
How to Extend your tan:
The average tan should last 6-7 days under normal conditions.
Exfoliating, shaving, hydroxy acids, retinols, facial toners can expedite the renewal of skin cells, causing your tan to fade faster, so avoid these if possible.
